It is quick, convenient, and temporary.

*Results and patient experience may vary.

THE TECHNOLOGY
It is accomplished by injecting small amounts of Botox® solution in the area of the wrinkles. Botox, a neurotoxin, attaches itself to nerve endings. This blocks the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that's responsible for triggering your facial muscles' contractions. Your facial muscles relax, and the lines and wrinkles in the skin above them smooth away.

The Results

Botox® is a temporary procedure where initial treatment results last approximately 3-4 months.

If treatment appointments are frequent and maintained, the duration of treatment results may last longer.

Which areas can I treat with Botox aka botulinum toxin?

Botox can be used to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In target areas, it can be used to make the face look slimmer or more relaxed. We offer a variety of Botox services, which include:

Forehead Lines

Do you notice horizontal lines across your forehead? Botox injections in this area will target these muscles and relax them, diminishing the appearance of these lines and wrinkles.

Frown Lines

You may have noticed lines between your eyes that form when you make facial expressions. An injection into this area will prevent these muscles from knitting together. Botox for frown lines will give you a more relaxed and youthful appearance.

Crow's feet Botox

In the corner of your eye, wrinkles form that are referred to as crow’s feet due to their fan-like appearance. Over time, the crow's feet become deeper and more pronounced. Botox will smooth out the eye area and relax these muscles.

Masseter Botox

Are you searching for a procedure that will make your face shape look more slender? Then a jaw slimming treatment may be right for you. Botox is injected into the masseter muscles and results in a slimmer, more V-shaped face. Those with TMJ disorder or bruxism tend to have enlarged masseter muscles from repeated grinding and clenching of the jaw. The Botox is injected into this area to visibly reduce the appearance of the muscles. This treatment has also been shown to relieve the symptoms associated with teeth grinding and TMD since the neurotoxin prevents the muscle from clenching. Lip Flip

This treatment gives the mouth a pouty look without the use of fillers. It’s a subtle way of enhancing the upper lip. If your top lip disappears when you smile, then this treatment will make it more visible. Botox is injected into the orbicularis oris muscle, causing it to relax and roll or “flip” outward. It’s a subtle way to enhance your smile without the dramatic effect of fillers. Lip flips can also improve the appearance of lines around the mouth. To fix a gummy smile and reverse the signs of aging, consider getting a lip flip in Winnipeg.

How is Botox - botulinum toxin - different from fillers?

Fillers use an injection of hyaluronic acid to add plumpness and volume to different areas of the face, including the mouth and cheekbones. Botox is a neurotoxin that attaches to nerve endings to prevent facial muscles from contracting. The results of these two procedures are quite different: fillers make the skin look sculpted and voluptuous, while Botox diminishes wrinkles and prevents the formation of new ones. Fillers are suitable for those who want a dramatic difference in their appearance. Botox is effective for anti-aging, subtle face changes, and certain medical treatments. The effects of fillers last longer but this procedure tends to be more expensive.

Can I use Botox for preventative care?

Botox can be administered to prevent the formation of wrinkles. Lines are formed in the face from repeated contractions of the muscles. Since Botox stops these muscles from clenching, wrinkles will not be formed.

Is Botox safe?

This treatment is approved for usage in Canada for both cosmetic and medical reasons. If you are nervous about the idea of injecting a neurotoxin, you can take comfort in knowing that results are temporary; the Botox will be metabolized in roughly 3-4 months.

How long will my appointment take?

Depending on the area you desire to be treated, the length of the procedure is usually between 15-30 minutes.

Does Botox - botulinum toxin - have medicinal uses?

There are a variety of conditions that Botox has been approved to treat. It’s medicinally used for excessive sweating, migraines, and muscular conditions. Health Canada approves the use of Botox for these treatments, so you may be eligible for insurance coverage if you suffer from these conditions.

Is it painful?

The discomfort experienced during treatments is mild. Patients feel the pinprick of the needle as it’s inserted, but that’s it. No anesthesia or numbing cream is required for this treatment.

How much Botox will I need?

The units of Botox required depend on the treatment area and the size of the muscles. During your consultation, your face will be examined to determine this answer.

When will I see results?

The effects of the procedure become visible within 4-5 days following your appointment. Over the next 2 weeks, you will notice the Botox gradually take effect. Results will be visible for 3-4 months, depending on how quickly your body metabolizes the botulinum toxin neurotoxin.

Are there mediciations I shouldn't use before a Botox treatment?

Stay away from NSAIDs, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. This medication may result in bruising at the injection sites. It’s advised to abstain from alcohol one day before your appointment since it thins your blood and can increase the risk of bruising.

Who should not get Botox treatments?

Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not receive Botox treatments. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Botox, this procedure is not advised. Those with infections at the injection site should wait until they are cleared up before receiving the treatment.

Will people be able to tell that I had work done?

The only sign that you’ve had treatment will be the small pinprick of the needle in your skin. Since Botox treatments are not as dramatic as fillers, it will be more difficult to spot a difference in your skin’s appearance. The after-effects of Botox are subtle yet effective, and some procedures have more visible results than others.

What is the recovery time following an appointment?

This minimally invasive procedure has very little downtime. Most can return to work immediately following their treatment. For a day or two following the treatment, your skin may be red or swollen, but this should not interfere with your daily activities.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

Since Botox is used in a range of areas, ask yourself where you would like to see results. You may wish to target fine lines between your eyebrows or on your forehead. Others may want to enhance their mouth with a lip flip, or make their face shape more sculpted-looking with a masseter reduction. It’s easy to combine treatments if you would like injections in several areas.

What affects the cost of a Botox Winnipeg treatment?

A factor in the price of your treatment is how many units of Botox are used. This will depend on the treatment area, size of the muscles being targeted, and how many injections are required.

Can I receive multiple treatments?

Yes, you can have Botox re-administered after every 3 months. Patients notice that results tend to last longer each time Botox is injected. Botox can last up to 5 months.

What are the side effects of Botox?

Most patients tolerate Botox injections very well. While side effects are rare, there are risks with any procedure. In some cases, patients experience headaches and bruising. If Botox is administered by an inexperienced technician, there is the risk of temporary muscle paralysis. Depending on the area of injection, this can result in difficulty making facial expressions or moving the mouth. It’s important to receive treatment by a certified nurse or doctor with the expertise required for these injections.
