Are you tired of waxing, shaving, and tweezing unwanted hair? Laser hair removal is a long-lasting hair reduction treatment; it’s a popular way for people of all genders to remove hair from a wide variety of areas.
What is laser hair removal?
It’s a medical procedure that uses concentrated beams of light or lasers, to destroy the hair follicles in the areas you wish to be treated. Each appointment causes a hair-growth reduction of 10%. The results are a permanent hair reduction. It has long-lasting effects on growth, so you no longer have to worry about constantly shaving or waxing.
What should I expect during laser hair removal?
First, you will meet with one of our experienced technicians for a free consultation. This allows us to select the optimal treatment plan for your hair and skin type. You will also be provided protective eyewear during the treatment to shield you from the laser. We do not use numbing cream because this is an unsafe practice that can cause burning - if the laser is too painful, we adjust the strength accordingly. Treatments are quick, easy, and usually take between 10-30 minutes.
What happens after the laser treatments?
After your treatment, you will notice the treated hair beginning to fall out. There are three stages in the growth cycle, so by staggering the treatments several weeks apart, we ensure that all follicles are destroyed during the growth phase.
Where on my body can I get laser hair removal?
You can laser away hair in a variety of areas, including body hair, the face, neck, arms, legs, stomach, underarms, backs, ears, and bikini area.
How fast does laser hair removal work?
Results are immediate following your first treatment; you will notice a reduction in hair growth of 10%, with increased results after several appointments. For more effective results, you can follow-up with another procedure after 4 to 8 weeks.
How long does laser hair removal last?
Laser hair removal destroys the hair follicle so that the hair will never regrow. In some cases, the laser only damages the follicle slightly, in which case more treatments can be scheduled to eliminate any remaining hair.
How many treatments will I need?
On average, 8 to 10 treatments are required. This answer will change according skin and hair colour, as well as the specific areas that you are targeting. After 4 to 8 weeks, you can book another appointment for improved results; areas with denser hair may require more treatments.
How do I prepare for a laser hair removal appointment?
In order for the laser to fully destroy the hair, it’s best to shave the area that will be treated before your procedure with us; this helps to avoid any skin irritation that may occur. Refrain from applying any scented lotions or other skin care products before your laser hair removal treatment.
Do different skin types or hair colour affect laser hair removal?
With many different skin types, results of laser hair removal can vary. The most effective results are with individuals who have lighter complexions and darker hair - the difference allows the laser to easily target the follicles. For darker complexions, more treatments may be necessary. At Simply Radiant, we will customize treatments for all skin types. The laser treatment is drawn to colour and targets hair that is darker than your skin tone. Because the laser is drawn to dark pigment, those with lighter hair colours may see less effective results.
Are there side effects or risks to laser hair removal?
Following the procedure, you may notice some redness or changes in the colour of your skin, especially for those with darker complexions. In some cases, blisters may form. Be careful not to touch or pick any scabs. It is also advised to avoid direct exposure to the sun after treatment.
